About H R Srinivas, Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar, NITK alumni

Mr SrinivasaIAS, E&C1992 KREC Bihar Chief Election commission officer

While the world has been a witness to the most confused manner in which the US Elections were conducted, in our very own country, recently the BIHAR Legislative Assembly Elections were held absolutely with no untoward incident, amidst fierce political rivalry, COVID pandemic, Migrants issue, Floods etc...!

Even in his Live speech Mr.Narendra Modi accoladed the most professional manner in which the BIHAR Elections were held...! Not a single booth re-polling,  not a single incidence of Violence, high number of voter turnout amidst the Covid...!

This was the second time in less than 2 years that elections were held in Bihar - the earlier one being the Lok Sabha Elections in 2019.

On both the occasions Bihar saw the most disciplined conduct of the polls...!

At the center of such a stupendous achievement - is the Mastermind of an amazing professional, who is known to be ruthlessly non-corrupt and a man of principles - *the Chief Electoral Officer of the State of Bihar, Mr. H. R. SRINIVAS.

Hailing from Chitradurga he did his B.E. (with Distinction) in Electronics and Communication from NITK, Surathkal. After a short stint in Bharat Electronics he went on to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Extremely serious in whatever he did... Extremely dedicated... Angry young man then... who struggled to speak good English... went on to create history in the country... and a place for himself in people's hearts...!

Mr. H R Srinivas was among those officials handpicked by the Supreme Court-constituted Central Empowered Committee (CEC) to help in probing illegal mining in Karnataka. He was also a member of the Monitoring Committee on mining.

Impressed by his performance, the Karnataka government had wanted the inter-cadre transfer of Mr. Srinivas, a 1996 batch Bihar cadre IAS officer. His contribution to nailing the illegal leases was appreciated by the CEC in a report submitted to the Supreme Court.

He is an excellent example to the new generation of IAS Officers - to learn never to bow to political pressures and perform with all sincerity and honesty.

It is a proud moment for all Kannadigas that that a Kannadiga from a small town in Karnataka  has made a name for himself in far off state like Bihar and contributed to the successful conclusion of the recent assembly elections.
