During this very unique event, NITK will host members of the very first graduating batch of the erstwhile KREC during Feb 17-19, 2025. After 60 years of their graduation, they will return to their alma mater for a memorable day of reconnecting, reminiscing, and celebrating the memorable journey of KREC/NITK since 1960.
The reunion brought together around 60 alumni, some traveling from overseas, to relive cherished memories and reconnect with their alma mater. The batch boasts an impressive array of alumni who have excelled across diverse fields, serving as Professors, Defence Officers, Scientists at premier institutions like DRDO and ISRO, Directors in engineering institutions, Entrepreneurs, Chief Engineers, and Consultants in various disciplines.

a formal stage programme was held at the LHCC Auditorium on NITK’s West Campus. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Subhash Yaragal, Deputy Director, NITK, while Prof. Shrikantha Rao, Dean (Alumni & Corporate Relations), graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The gathering also included special invitees Dr. Sudhakar Nayak, Former Director, Dr. K.R. Kamath, Former HoD, and Prof. Uday Bhat, Dean (Research & Consultancy).
1981 batch alumni of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (the then KREC), who are now settled in different parts of the world, gathered in the Institute campus for a memorable reunion on 27th July, 2024.
The alumni of the 2003 batch made a heartfelt return to NITK Surathkal, revisiting the campus they graduated from nearly two decades ago. The alumni expressed their deep appreciation for the progress and innovative research being conducted at the institute. As part of their visit, the batch made a generous donation of Rs. 12,00,000 to the NITK Endowment Fund
